Grade I Former 18th Century Naval Rigging House

T.J.Lowery (Sub-Contractors.)Ltd were given the unique opportunity to work with Buxton Builders Ltd in transforming this former Naval Rigging House once used as to accommodate dockyard riggers and equipment store for war ships into rental space for commercial tenancy.

Being a listed building and a project of scale; T.J.lowery (Sub-Contractors.)Ltd had to provide both the quality and quantity of skilled labour in order to ensure that our Client was able to stick to programme. With these types of projects we feel the importance of our comprehensive monthly valuations come into their own as older buildings such as this can often reveal extra areas of work that require our attention which were not originally accounted for. In this instance with our Valuations we are able mitigate the cost of these unforeseen extras unlike other carpentry subcontractors who do not have such expertise and instead request daywork rates for the entire project causing the Client to suffer out of control spiralling costs.

As with most of our projects we were awarded the entire carpentry package. The work undertaken included re-insulating and boarding of all ceilings internally, plywood flooring, repairing existing timber floors, special feature glulam walls, all second fix including doors and door furniture and much more. There was also a requirement within the specification that all doors could only be fitted by Registered Fire Door Installers – a service that we can provide.
